Most sellers assume Amazon refunds everything automatically. It doesn't. Here's how we detect the gap, what we do with it, and the line we don't cross.

What Amazon credits on its own, and what it does not

Amazon auto-credits

Units lost or damaged inside the fulfillment center, some inbound discrepancies, and (since the November 2024 FBA policy update) a wider set of warehouse-side incidents. Amazon says this covers "the vast majority." In practice the auto-credited amount is typically 30–60% of what's actually recoverable.

You have to file the rest

Customer-damaged returns disposed, replacement units never returned, removal orders lost or damaged in transit, inbound count mismatches, fee overcharges from wrong dimensions. Each event has its own 60-90 day window. After that, the money is gone.
